The project once known as Fact0rN has arrived at a defining moment. What started as an experimental proof-of-work blockchain built around mathematical challenges has evolved into something far greater. It is becoming a foundational tool for academia, science, security, and scalable innovation.

Today, we are proud to officially reintroduce ourselves as Factor.

This change is more than cosmetic. It reflects a sharper vision, a mature identity, and a clearer understanding of what we are building. The ecosystem is grounded in prime factorization, but it now moves forward with focused purpose. One that is focused on community, transparency, and useful compute-for-good.

Why the Rebrand?

The name Fact0rN, stylized with a zero, had technical charm. However, it was hard to pronounce, easy to misread, and often difficult to find in search results. The branding created friction at the entry point.

  • The '0' character (zero) in place of the letter 'O' makes pronunciation unclear. The additional “N” risks being misread as 'FACTORN', which sounds off-brand.

  • It breaks the rule of easy spelling and pronunciation. A spoken name that can’t be typed correctly is a liability in branding.

  • The visual identity leans heavily on mathematical symbolism. While this supports its technical legitimacy, it can alienate or confuse audiences.

  • As the project seeks adoption across researchers, developers, institutions, and the public, clarity and accessibility must take precedence.

The solution was not to abandon the core idea, but to refine it.

Factor preserves the essential spirit, mathematical precision, foundational logic, and scientific relevance, while providing a simpler and stronger way to communicate our mission.

This is more than a name change. It is a realignment of clarity, strength, and purpose.

Why Rhubarb Media?

ImageWhen the time came to rebuild the brand from the ground up, we knew we needed more than a design team. We needed a creative partner who could help us tell the story behind the project and shape the experience for every user group.

Rhubarb Media, a Canadian-based studio with a long history of narrative branding and emerging tech work, was the clear choice. Their process is rooted in archetypes, systems thinking, and honest communication.

They did not just deliver a logo. They helped us discover how to frame the story, design the visuals, and bring consistency to every part of the user journey.

Rhubarb isn’t new to blockchain. They have been designing and storytelling in this space since 2017, starting with early community-led projects like PIVX. Since then, they have become a go-to creative studio for teams building decentralized technology with real-world value. Their strength lies in understanding how to communicate complexity with clarity. They translate high-concept systems into language and visuals that make sense to developers, miners, researchers, and everyday users alike.

What makes them stand out is their community-first approach.

Rhubarb builds brand systems from the inside out. They collaborate with real people inside the ecosystem, not ad agencies or paid influencers. They craft campaigns that grow through participation, not pressure. Their method works because it builds trust. Their work speaks to the core of a project rather than chasing the market.

Image“The experience with Rhubarb Media has been eye opening. How clarity and simplicity drive messaging to the general public. We look forward to continue our partnership to bring awareness to the general public to all the value the Factor project offers. They believe that the strongest marketing is the kind that builders and users want to share, because it feels true. They also know that trust is earned when visual identity and core values align.” ~ Juan Luis Vargas Molina (Factor Founder)

Their contribution to the Factor brand included:

  • A deep audit of the original name, tone, and identity

  • An archetype-based strategy to define the project’s personality

  • A new icon and visual system grounded in meaning, not trend

  • Messaging that respects both scientific rigor and broader accessibility

Rhubarb Media doesn’t rely on hype. They build strong foundations that prepare a project for long-term growth and adoption.

Factor needed a brand that could scale without losing its center. Rhubarb delivered a system that does exactly that. It is shaped by the same principles that guide the project itself; clarity, transparency, and community.

And they are not finished. The plan is to build on it with future resources, educational tools, and ongoing community engagement as the ecosystem grows.

The Story Behind the Symbol: The Key

ImageAt the heart of the new identity is a symbol: a key.

It was chosen carefully. The key is unique and it unlocks.

It unlocks prime factors. It unlocks new proof-of-work models. It unlocks tools for academics, scientists, miners, developers, and researchers.

The metaphor goes deeper:

  • Factorization is about breaking something complex into its basic elements.

  • A key simplifies, opens, and connects.

  • In math and cryptography, the key often represents the essential piece that enables function or access.

The new symbol is intentionally abstract. It evokes a keyhole, a modular hash node, and a scalable unit, all within a single shape.

ImageWhat Comes Next

This rebrand marks the beginning of a new phase.

Here is what we are focused on now.

1. Sharpening the Messaging

We are completing an updated Key Messaging Document. This version will be cleaner and more direct. It explains the value of Factor to real users in the real world.

Our project is not designed for hype cycles. We do not pay influencers. We do not run ads. We focus on:

  • Miners and CPU fairness

  • Developers building tools or integrations

  • Researchers exploring new forms of secure compute

  • Academics and cryptographers

  • Builders creating infrastructure and real-world apps

2. Community-Led Outreach

Our outreach will be powered by the community. We are not chasing algorithmic virality. We are providing tools, clarity, and visual assets so aligned voices can tell the story.

This includes:

  • Social explainers for each user group

  • Educational carousels and infographics

  • Knowledge base and onboarding guides

  • Modular assets for devs, miners, and academic use

3. Rhubarb Continues to Support

Rhubarb is staying involved through the next phases. Their ongoing work includes:

  • Educational resource kits

  • Community decks and slides

  • “Explain Like I’m 5” visuals

  • Developer and academic onboarding assets

  • Visual breakdowns of Factor, Factory (Mining Pool), KeyBoard (Formerly Deadpool), and Gateway (Formerly Rhitta) Names TBD.

  • Creating and writing for X

This rollout is structured, consistent, and focused on clarity.

How You Can Help

Best Practices for Builders and Contributors

As we move forward, we are keeping these principles at the center of everything:

  • Say what it does. Avoid hype and overstatement.

  • Use visuals that align with the system. Consistency builds trust.

  • Remember the mission. Factor is not just a trading coin. It is a distributed computation network.

  • Stay grounded in community. The campaign is not an ad buy. It is a movement led by real users.

Factor is open source, fair-mined, and science-rooted. And now, with a clearer name, a simple visual brand and a stronger voice, we are ready to scale.

Let’s build something important. This new brand and revised narrative aims to unlocks the future. But it only works if we turn the key together.
